Teri & Mike Hubbeling
Teri received a degree in art and learned the basics of her craft while at Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Mike is self-taught.
We have been making plates together since 1985. Our work has been sold in galleries and fine craft stores throughout the United States. We have shown our work at the Texas Clay Festival in Gruene, Texas since 1998.
Our fifteen minutes of fame was more like fifteen seconds, when after many hours of work to create 72 "Texas style" plates for the opening barbecue of the 1990 Economic Summit in Houston, President George Bush held up one of our plates on CNN and said, "Aren’t these great!" Thank you George.
We take virtually all our design ideas from animal shapes and patterns and prefer rich colors. Whether it is in the form of a silhouette against a night sky or the unlimited color combinations found in fish and insects, we find endless ideas in nature. We enjoy our work most when we can find a slightly humorous presentation. Ideally, Terware plates incorporate humor, color and design into one distinctive, beautiful product.
