Paige Shelton

Paige Shelton , a native Texan graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a B.F.A.in studio art. She studied pottery making with Ishmael Soto and Hank Cabanis there. She found Westbank Pottery on 10th street and joined the small group of potters and became a co-owner. She taught classes there and  at St. Stephen's Episcopal School for 7 years during the summer.  In 1986 she worked about 2 years part-time in String Prairie at Nettlebed Pottery in production and design while also working on her own pots  Moving from there to Smithville, she and her husband, Ray have begun building the partially straw-baled walls and native timber studio where they have built a car kiln. Paige enjoys selling her work at a few selected art and craft fairs and shops. The Texas Clay Festival has been  such a favorite for over 10 years with all the participants who only work with clay. We have a great time together and are inspired by each others work. Last year she began displaying her work at the gallery in Texas Kiln Products' Mill Outlet Store with her husband and other fine artists and craftsmen . Photography and many native Texas wood products can be seen. It is 6 miles from the river between Bastrop and Smithville on Hwy. 71. You are invited.
