Madeline DeStefano

Madeline DeStefano is a multidimensional artist based in San Marcos, Texas. Having begun identifying as an artist at an early age, Madeline's art education was further nurtured through magnet arts curriculum in both elementary and middle school. In high school she was introduced to ceramics and finally felt she'd found her medium. She then went on to study studio arts at Pensacola Junior College in her hometown of Pensacola Florida, and later relocated to Texas. Having taken a break from art to begin a career as a hairstylist, Madeline was eager to get back to clay and signed up for a workshop at Eye of the Dog Art Center in 2012. She quickly returned for several more before becoming a studio resident in 2013. Since then, through independent study and under the tutelage of Billy Ray Mangham and other studio artists, Madeline has honed her distinctive style and vision. Drawing inspiration from her lifelong love of animation, film, and comics, her unique figurative work is highly emotive and cartoonishly vibrant. Equally exuberant are her simple and organic functional forms. Madeline’s highly tactile surfaces are achieved through a combination of hand-building techniques-enhanced with playful palettes and designs.
