Myra Douglass studied ceramics in northern California at College of the Redwoods. She is a fulltime maker that also enjoys teaching classes and workshops. She lives in Kyle, TX with her husband and four rescue dogs. Myra strives for her pottery to be seamlessly functional and durable; while having a delicate organic sense of beauty. She fires her pottery and sculpture in salt, soda, and wood kilns and considers herself to be a “fire potter.” She has served as artist in residence at Sugar Maple Art Center in New York, and currently serves as a studio tech at Laguna Gloria Art School at the Contemporary in Austin, TX. Myra has exhibited extensively nationally, and received several awards for her sculptural installations. She is a member of the wonderful community surrounding the Eye of the Dog Art Center in San Marcos, TX; and is infinitely grateful for the mentorship she has found there and elsewhere along her path to a career in ceramics. If it wasn’t for the kindness and generosity of other potters and sculptors she would certainly not have made it this far.
