As a New Orleans native, I grew up loving good food, dancing in the streets and watching masked people throw beads from tall moving vehicles. School and work were cancelled for hurricanes and parades, both frequent events.
I went to school in California as an undergraduate to study literature, dance and printmaking; then moved to New Mexico for graduate school , a teaching credential, and developed a love of clay . We dug clay, made kilns in school parking lots and encouraged all teachers to make clay a part of their student’s school day.
Moving to Austin, I discovered the pottery guild at Laguna Gloria where I met wonderful potters who loved good food, great music and making beautiful things. After 25 plus years as an art teacher, I now have the time to work in my Dripping Springs studio.
