Description of event:

Swirling wet clay, flaming hot kilns and incredible imaginations have always been part of the Texas Clay Festival and this year is no exception. Educating the public in the ceramic arts has been one of the goals of the organizers of the festival since it’s inception in 1992. This is not just another craft show!
This years’s show will feature over fifty fine crafts people working in clay today. The work ranges from functional stoneware pottery to decorative sculpture.
Demonstrations in potter’s wheel work, sculptural construction methods, as well as kiln firing demonstrations will be ongoing throughout both days. This is an excellent opportunity to ask the clay artists those questions about just how a particular piece was made. In addition, each artist will be exhibiting their latest work, so come early before they sell out! Please join us for two days of fun and education in the ancient art of fired clay. Admission to the festival is free.
While there, plan to shop in the many unique stores, dine in any of the fine restaurants and even kick up your heels at Gruene Hall, Texas’oldest dance hall.
